Looking at what’s been happening in collections from Spring 2025 up until Resort 2026, I’ve gathered up 20 fashion predictions into what I’m calling a Spring 2026 trend forecast, although I need to add some caveats to that. Some of these will be reflected in Spring 2026 collections for sure, while others may take a while longer to catch on.
Spring 2026 Trend Forecast: How Quickly Will These Predictions Land?
I had written a trend forecast post about the Sukajan back in January 2025 and that is taking its time to catch on – Valentino have just included one in Resort 2026 though, which will definitely help it push forward as a trend, so I’m expecting it to really catch on in Fall 2026, although my original post had forecast it for Fall 2025. Likewise, I’m putting all of these predictions under the heading of “Spring 2026 trend forecast” but some of these may only appear very sparsely in Spring 2026 collections, and then really start to catch on in later seasons, like Spring 2027.
20 Fashion Predictions: Not All Trends Are Meant for Everyone
Other items included in these 20 fashion predictions are more of a styling choice than an actual trend, and may not actually go beyond the runway into commercial success. Or they may be worn by celebrities and fashion show attendees (as street style) but not by the general public, simply because they are a little too avant-garde — in the same way that ‘underwear as outerwear’ was popular in street style but never really caught on commercially. However there are always lessons that can be taken from trends that cannot translate directly from the runway to commercial viability — ‘underwear as outerwear’ can translate to hot pants instead, for example.
So with those caveats out of the way, here are 20 fashion predictions that cover clothing, details, footwear, and accessories.

Spring 2026 Trend Forecast: Details
Rosettes and 3D Flowers
From gathered fabric that resembles rosettes (see Vaquera) to more literal flowers (see Florentina Leitner), this fashion prediction hits two wider trends – equestrian (rosettes) and feminine/coquette (3D flowers).

Blanket Stitch
Handcrafted items have been popular for quite a while now, with crochet trending in particular (commercially) for Spring 2025. Blanket stitch details are a new way of adding a handcrafted feel to garments – applied here to the border of a jacket at Veronica Beard and around patch pockets at ADEAM.

Curved and Twisted Seams
Very much tied to the wide-leg trend, curved seams (see Stamm) add a sporty feel, and also give the effect of volume. At WIZZARD, a vertical seam starts at the side and then twists toward the front as it runs down the leg.

Chin Guards
The military trend continues but in a more subtle way – chin guards are applied to garments that are not directly military-inspired. This is more of a wintery trend, but it can be applied for Spring if used on sleeveless jackets, for example.

Pyjama Piping
Pyjama dressing is a key trend, and one particular detail to take note of is pyjama-style piping. At Enfants Riches Deprimés, a red border is applied to a leather coat, giving a less literal take on the trend. At TELMA, the fabric and print make the jacket look unmistakably like pyjamas, with the piping further reinforcing that impression.

Duffel Closure
Again, this trend has more ties to Fall/Winter than to Spring/Summer, however imaginative application of duffel closures can definitely push it forward for Spring – see Baum und Pferdgarten’s placement on a skirt for Resort 2026. At Kiko Kostadinov, the duffel closure is more of a stylized look.

Spring 2026 Trend Forecast – Equestrian Influence
Equestrian Styling
As mentioned above, a key trend brewing right now is equestrianism, at least according to me! I strongly feel that the sports x fashion influence will shift away from the current focus on football to a focus on other sports instead: boxing and equestrianism. At Burberry and Fendi, leggings and trousers tucked into boots give a very equestrian sort of vibe, while also giving a nod to 2010s jeans-in-boots styling.

Jodhpurs
This is one of the more divisive of the fashion predictions on the list, and I don’t feel that it will really reach commercial viability, but instead will stick to the runways (and street style) instead. I saw hints of this trend in Spring 2025 and then a little bit more in Fall 2025 (see Songzio and TWP below), but I think that it’s more like we will see the illusion of jodhpurs, in the way that Fendi (above) have styled loose trousers with knee high boots.

Riding Boots
Knee high riding boots, styled with leggings (FETICO) or simply worn with a dress (Prada) are making a comeback. Footwear has been heading in the direction of ‘comfort’ for a long time now, and riding boots are a great balance between comfort and style.

Spring 2026 Trend Forecast – Footwear
Boxing Sneakers
As mentioned above, sport x fashion is ever evolving, and my instinct is that the next sports to be tapped into will be boxing and equestrianism. I’ve seen boxing sneakers on the street already, and I must admit I own two pairs myself that I wear regularly. At AJOBYAJO below, adidas boxing sneakers (likely the Box Hog) are worn on the runway, while at Jonathan Cohen, the brand features their own take on the style.

Flip-Flops
Slides have dominated summer footwear for years now, and a change has been long overdue. Below at Christopher Esber, the flip-flops incorporate a slide-style strap over the toes, while Holzweiler stick to a more classic flip-flop silhouette.
![Christopher Esber Fall 2025 [Paris] Creative Direction: Christopher Esber](https://www.thefashionfold.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/christopher-esber-fall-2025-photo-credit-nowfashion-com-800x1200-1.jpg)

Sock Sneakers
Remember ten years ago when those sleek sock sneakers were everywhere – particularly the iconic versions from Balenciaga and Rick Owens. The sock sneakers appears to be making a return, but this time the “sock” features visible knit texture like cable or rib stitching. Less futuristic and streamlined, more handmade, tactile, and organic.

Wader Boots
Another of these fashion predictions that likely will not translate over to commercial viability: wader boots. I have seen celebrities wearing these, but the reality is that these are difficult to pull off in real life. So, while I expect them to feature prominently on the runway, they won’t go much further than that.
![Herskind Fall 2025 [Copenhagen] Creative Direction: Birgitte Herskind](https://www.thefashionfold.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/herskind-fall-2025-photo-credit-james-cochrane-for-cphfw-800x1200-1.jpg)

Spring 2026 Trend Forecast – Styling Choices
Swimwear as Bodysuits
This is actually something I’ve been doing for years – if I don’t find a bodysuit that I like, or if I happen to find a swimsuit with a beautiful print, I wear it as a bodysuit instead. As a styling choice on the runway, it’s definitely catching on, and I expect it to continue for Spring 2026.
![Miu Miu Spring 2025 [Paris] Creative Direction: Miuccia Prada](https://www.thefashionfold.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/miu-miu-spring-2025-photo-credit-nowfashion-com-800x1200-1.jpg)

Tights as Outerwear
Here’s one to watch for on the runway, and possibly in street style too. Similar to ‘underwear as outerwear’, this is a concept that is striking on the runway but doesn’t easily translate into everyday wear. Some brands take this to the extreme, even styling the tights over footwear – see BASICKS below. Still, it’s the kind of bold styling choice that’s like to be picked up by street style influencers during fashion week. As for translating this commercially – it may lead to an increased focus on tights and hosiery as statement pieces rather than just basics.

Spring 2026 Trend Forecast – Clothing
Lampshade Skirts
Seeing this trend, I immediately thought of Mary Katrantzou’s lampshade skirts for Spring 2011. I remember being at London Fashion Week at the time and seeing the skirts come down the runway, following along on a big screen after the show, entranced by the design. The structured peplum hem at HEAVEN TANUDIREDJA and the stiff dress at McQueen follow the same lampshade form that Katrantzou presented 15 years ago.

Stirrup Leggings
Here’s another of these 20 fashion predictions that I’ve been wanting to highlight for a long time, but until now, not enough brands were showing it on the runway. It still feels like a trend in its infancy, but sooner or later stirrup leggings will be back.

Spring 2026 Trend Forecast – Accessories
Antennae and Horns / Novelty Hats
The first brand that comes to mind for novelty hats is Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, with novelty hats being a staple of the label. Features like antennae and horns (whether on hats or hoodies) are catching on with other brands too.
![Christian Wijnants Fall 2025 [Paris] Creative Direction: Christian Wijnants](https://www.thefashionfold.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/christian-wijnants-fall-2025-photo-credit-courtesy-of-christian-wijnants-800x1200-1.jpg)

Weird Sunglasses
There is a lot to be said about sunglasses, but a catch-all description – though not a particularly technical one – would be to just say that they are getting weird. Think oversized styles at Collina Strada that are almost insectoid, and the futuristic Robocop-style visors at MM6.
![Collina Strada Fall 2025 [New York] Creative Direction: Hillary Taymour](https://www.thefashionfold.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/collina-strada-fall-2025-photo-credit-alessandro-viero-on-behalf-of-gorunway-courtesy-of-collina-strada-800x1200-1.jpg)

Giant Scarfs
Finally, another trend that is more Fall/Winter than Spring/Summer: giant scarfs. Often with text and draped on one shoulder, these are statement pieces that channel vintage stoles.

Looking Ahead: What These 20 Fashion Predictions Tell Us
While not every trend here will dominate the mainstream immediately, each one offers insight into where fashion is headed – whether on the runway, in street style, or eventually in retail. Some of these 20 fashion predictions might take a few seasons to fully take hold, while others will evolve or influence styling in unexpected ways. By tracking them now, we stay ahead of the curve and better understand how designers are responding to cultural shifts, aesthetics, and consumer moods. Keep watching – the next wave of fashion is already forming.
