This year marked the 10th anniversary of the Charles Jeffrey Loverboy brand, celebrated with the SS2025 menswear collection showcased during the London Fashion Week 40th anniversary weekend in June 2024. Additionally, Charles Jeffrey Loverboy launched an exhibition titled “The Lore of LOVERBOY” at Somerset House, the same venue that has housed the brand’s studio since 2016.
The SS2025 collection draws inspiration from the concept of ‘queer time,’ exploring how queerness influences not only gender and sexuality but also one’s perception of time—past, present, and future. The collection blends nightwear and undergarments with outerwear and formalwear, as public and private attire become intertwined. Garments appear deconstructed and draped, evoking a sense of being dragged through the day. Within the collection nightwear and undergarments contrast with outerwear and formalwear as clothing for public and private . Garments are deconstructed and draped haphazardly as though dragged through the day. Inspirations are apparent – twisted seams from Vivienne Westwood (tbh the animal claw shoes are reminiscent of the classic VW Tiger Loafers), cartoonish colour blocking from Walter Van Beirondonck, dramatic spikes in Look 41 (which seemed rather disconnected from the rest of the collection and could have done without the spikes). There are on-trend sailor collars, wide stripes and polo shirts, along with other emerging trends that seem to be bubbling up slowly like scalloped hems and polka dots.

Influences include twisted seams reminiscent of Vivienne Westwood (see Looks 9 and 10), Walter Van Beirendonck-style cartoonish colour blocking (Looks 27, 28, 29), and dramatic spikes that reminded me of Buerlangma (Look 41), though the spikes seemed somewhat out of place. On-trend elements such as sailor collars, wide stripes and polo shirts also make an appearance, along with smaller, emerging trends including scalloped hems, capri pants and culottes.
