From poolside runways to horses on the catwalk, Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring 2026 had plenty of memorable moments – so naturally they deserved a few memes. Whether you were there in person, caught the live streams, or just followed along from your feed, these 11 memes are a loving roast of the most stylish (and sometimes surreal) moments from the week.
For no reason other than it was interesting to me do so, each meme is accompanied by a quote related to its topic. Hopefully you find them as intriguing as I did.

“I’d been painting rats for three years before someone said ‘that’s clever it’s an anagram of art’ and I had to pretend I’d known all along.”
— Banksy, street artist

You can’t have missed the trending Rat Clutch by Esben Weile Kjær that featured at the Anne Sofie Madsen Spring 2026 show – it’s been all over social media after all. But a few years ago I had posted this curious picture on my personal Instagram (are we still calling those a finsta?) and I think it’s relevant here.

“When you have to make a choice and don’t make it, that is in itself a choice.”
— William James, philosopher and psychologist

There were two extremes it seemed – the cool scandi-minimalism that we’ve come to know and love (see Filippa K Spring 2026) or the absolute maximalist polka dot and bows and gingham that was Caro Editions Spring 2026.

“Speak your mind but ride a fast horse.”
— Texas Bix Bender, writer and producer

Equestrian style showed up on many runways as predicted in The Fashion Fold’s Spring 2026 trend forecast. Baum und Pferdgarten took the theme so literally that the show was hosted between the stables at the Charlottenlund Racetrack. As part of the finale, a horse and sulky appeared.

“The bicycle is the most civilized conveyance known to man. Other forms of transport grow daily more nightmarish.”
— Iris Murdoch, novelist and philosopher

Bicycles are everywhere in Copenhagen, and they’re a really convenient way to get around. If you attend the shows then you’ve definitely seen the CPHFW cars having some close calls with bicycles on narrow roads!

“Never try to wear a hat that has more character than you do.”
— Lance Morrow, writer

Hats were the street style accessory – here are two of my favourite examples – honestly that brown hat is perfection.

“I don’t think there is ever a wrong time for a polka dot.”
— Marc Jacobs, fashion designer

Pattern mixing, accessories, bows – Caro Editions had it all.
Okay maybe not the bucket hats, thankfully their time has passed.

“Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.”
— Gore Vidal, writer and intellectual

Showing up in Copenhagen it feels like people are just so effortlessly stylish, doesn’t it?

“Why is a movie starring women considered a gimmick and a movie starring men is just a normal movie?”
— Paul Feig, film director and screenwriter

This one doesn’t need much explanation. Okay yes, there was a horse on the runway at Baum und Pferdgarten, and a diver to open the show at OpéraSPORT but there weren’t any of those overly forced viral ‘for-the-gram’ (not sure if we’re still saying that either – forgive me I’m an old millenial) moments or creating pieces for virality… okay yeah there was the Rat Clutch.
Maybe I should just retire this meme.

“I am physically allergic to flip flops”
— Karl Lagerfeld, fashion designer

Here’s another one predicted in our Spring 2026 trend forecast: flip flops. They were everywhere! From the 3D-printed Havaianas collab at OpéraSPORT to the street style outside of the shows, there is a new favorite sandal.

“You can never take too much care over the choice of your shoes.”
— Christian Dior

Those Copenhagen pavements can be a nightmare to navigate in heels, so it’s no wonder that many attendees favour sneakers and other flat shoes. And of course, they make them look so stylish!

“Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell.”
— Edward Abbey, author

Copenhagen Fashion Week is known for its sustainability requirements that brands must adhere to in order to be on the schedule. Many brands also present clothes that are both stylish and timeless, allowing for them to be worn season after season, year after year.
