Ties may be trending, but at Pitti Uomo, they’ve never really gone out of style. The trade fair’s street style has long celebrated tailoring and classic menswear codes, and Pitti Uomo 108 street style was no different. What set this season apart, however, was the playful energy brought to the necktie through print, proportion, and styling.
There were sharply tailored looks, like in look 1, where a wide stripe tie is smartly paired with a fine pinstripe suit, creating visual harmony through a strict grey and black palette. Others took a more expressive route: look 5 features a floral tie that becomes the focal point of the outfit, while look 6 proves that bold prints can still feel cohesive when grounded in earthy, tonal layers. Color coordination was a theme – ties picked up on hues in blazers, pocket squares or even hats.
There was also a strong Americana and Western influence. Bolo ties showed up in looks 13 and 17, while in look 14 a shirt with a contrast color pointed yoke references Western styles more explicitly. Loosely tied neck scarves and bandanas in paisley are popular – no doubt due to the inclusion of Children of the Discordance on the schedule, with paisley being a favored print of the Japanese brand.
Pitti 108 showed that the tie is less about formality now, and more about personality, whether you go classic, kitsch, or cowboy.
