When I was a teenager in the 2000s, I remember I had a lilac and pink snakeskin print mini skirt (low waist of course) that my mum had sewed for me. Animal print was a key trend of the 2000s and 2010s and it’s back in a big way for Pre-Fall 2024. It’s definitely more grown up this time around, and I certainly wouldn’t find myself in any pastel snakeskin print again!

All kinds of animal print are to be found in the Pre-Fall 2024 collections – there are more stylised versions at Elie Saab and Christopher John Rogers (tiger print and cow print), along with more realistic prints at Markarian and LaPointe (tiger stripes on a faux fur jacket and snakeskin). If you’re looking for more faux fur (or shearling) inspiration – it is a big trend right now after all.
At AZ Factory, a leopard print mini dress is paired with bright red tights – red also being a key trend right now. DSquared2’s longline jacket in leopard print is paired with a micro mini skirt (also trending), and Max Mara’s dress features a 2010s style belted waist. At Moschino, the style is indie sleaze, and definitely wouldn’t look out of place on a Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane catwalk circa 2014.
At Christian Dior, Maria-Grazia Chiuri uses animal print on a slip dress, while Roberto Cavalli’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection was full of Americana references, including this Appaloosa print. Stella McCartney used a tiger print, while at Ermanno Scervino, accessories featured animal print for a more minimal approach to the trend.
