With the AMI Paris Spring 2026 Menswear collection, Alexandre Mattiussi leans into an easeful, wearable language – the silhouettes move fluidly, buoyed by relaxed tailoring and artful layering, and the overall mood is one of lived-in sophistication. These are clothes for city sidewalks and lazy Sundays alike.
Mattiussi nods to the ‘70s with his earth-toned palette – sand, pale olive, chalky yellow – and earthy suedes, but there’s a whisper of the ‘90s too, in the way those references are distilled: clean lines, elongated layers, sharp shirting. Contrast stitching and oversized flap pockets evoke the era of grown-up cargo, though their reappearance on a skirt, front and center, feels just subversive enough to keep things interesting.
There’s also play in the details. A flash of argyle on a sweater vest feels ready for the golf course, while frilled plackets on shirting add a romantic accent that lands just right, whether styled on men or women. Still, there are moments that pull focus for the wrong reasons – namely the oversized belt buckles, which read less as statement than stumble. Their scale is distracting in a collection that otherwise trades so well in nuance and control.
Ultimately, AMI Paris offers a wardrobe of elegant ease – one that embraces a gentle nostalgia without becoming derivative. And if a few styling choices (read: those belt buckles) push the envelope a little too far, they don’t overshadow what the collection ultimately offers: quietly refined, contemporary clothes that feel as comfortable as they look.
