For its first runway show – and on its 20th anniversary – Aiayu chose reflection over spectacle. At the Nils Stærk Gallery, guests sat on raw tree stumps, their rings marking the decades, as models moved slowly through projections of Bolivia, India, and Portugal. Aiayu Spring 2026 was part installation, part archive, and entirely grounded in the brand’s ‘materials-first philosophy’.
The season brought a lighter touch: undyed linens cut into matching vests, jackets and shorts; flowering jacquard co-ords in white, nodding to Japanese spring; denim reworked into bermuda-length proportions. Knitwear stayed central, from airy sartuul wool eyelets to hand-knitted Bolivian vests with pom-poms, and fine merino with lace trims. Outerwear was softened for the season – a rounded-collar oilskin jacket, a streamlined trench. The palette shifted with the season itself, from navy and khaki through beige to lilac and pale blue.
It read less like a debut and more like a quiet manifesto: twenty years distilled into clothes worth keeping.
