Pitti Immagine Uomo #105 starts tomorrow, but what exactly is it? Basically, it’s a trade show for brands to showcase their collections to buyers. Held twice a year at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, Italy, there are all sorts of events – catwalk shows, presentations, exhibitions, collection previews with drinks, after parties – pretty much everything you’d expect at a fashion event. And just like the fashion weeks held in cities like Milan, London and New York, there is plenty of street style too.
Just take a look at these street style snaps from the last edition, Pitti Immagine Uomo #104.
Inside the venue, brands display their clothes, shoes and accessories for buyers to browse. They can ask questions and get a real feel for products.
There are a few things I’m looking forward to at Pitti this year. First of all, Todd Snyder has been named creative director of Woolrich Black Label, with the first collection for season AW2024 having a preview at Pitti tomorrow 9th January before having a full presentation at Milan Fashion Week a few days later. Also showing at Pitti is Magliano, with a catwalk show on Wednesday 10th January.Magliano was founded in 2017 and combines tailoring with a disheveled, deconstructed sort of styling for a really interesting effect. On Thursday 11th, S.S.Daley will hold a catwalk show, having been named a guest designer for this edition of Pitti Uomo.
