If you’ve had a look at the Pre-Fall 2024 collections (or seen my trend report), it’s pretty obvious what the trending coats and jackets for winter 2024 are – faux fur and shearling have featured in many brands’ Pre-Fall collections, and with AW2024 shows about to start, there’s sure to be plenty more on the runways. The featured image shows (l-r): Iro, Ottolinger, and Valentino.
Trending or not, faux fur and shearling coats and jackets are a great investment piece as they always look good, and you can throw one on over any outfit to instantly elevate your look – a fur coat worn over jeans, Doc Martens and a polo neck looks great any time, whether it’s winter 2024 or 2025 (and beyond).
Faux fur and shearling were included in so many collections – here’s a faux shearling coat from Stella McCartney, a coat and scarf combo at Diesel, a tiger stripe coat at Markarian, and a multi-colour faux fur coat at Missoni. Animal print is another key trend right now – you can get two trends in one with this zebra print faux fur coat by The Attico or this leopard print coat by REDValentino.
No. 21 and Valentino show two luxe options, and David Koma and Ottolinger present jackets in really modern styles.
Personally, I won’t be adding any new faux fur or shearling coats and jackets to my wardrobe this winter – I have enough that I’ve already bought in previous seasons so I’ll wait on buying anything new for now. I was lucky enough to get two really nice faux fur coats about six years ago for a good discount, and while one of them is still in great shape, the other one had a few too many days in the London rain and looked a bit worse for the wear this year so it had to be relegated to the status of cat bed liner – there’s now four cats fighting over who gets to sleep on it (bonus photo at the bottom of the post).
If I was looking for something new, the below faux fur and shearling coats and jackets would definitely be on my wishlist. It’s the perfect time to buy – sales are on so you can grab a bargain on some AW2023/24 pieces while new SS2024 items are hitting stores so you can make sure you manage to get what you want in your size.
