There’s a few interesting holidays from September 16th to 20th – including National School Backpack Awareness Day on the 20th which aims to warn you about overpacking your bag. I might need to take notice of that one!

16th September: International Eat an Apple Day
The third Saturday in September is International Eat an Apple Day and I’ve chosen this look from Comme des Garçons’ SS2018 collection where Rei Kawakubo printed Giuseppe Arcimboldo’s 1591 painting Vertumnus onto a dress.
Vertumnus uses fruits, vegetables and flowers to create a portrait of the Roman Emperor Rudolf II. Arcimboldo was well known for combining flowers and fruit within his paintings, and Vertumnus became one of his most well known works.

17th September: National Women’s Friendship Day
National Women’s Friendship Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in September – I’ve chosen these pictures from Patricia Musiris’ AW2017 collection featuring woven friendship bracelets.

18th September: First Love Day
Time to reflect on your first love on September 18th, or maybe cringe about your first crush.
Hearts are a really popular motif – as a print, heart-shaped buttons, heart-shaped bags, heart-shaped cutouts, the list goes on. I picked out some heart-shaped bags but there were so many cute items that I should put them all in a separate post soon.

19th September: National Woman Road Warrior Day
September 19th is National Woman Road Warrior Day and this celebrates all women who have to travel for business.
I mentioned Chanel’s SS2016 show back in May for Frequent Flyer Day (May 1st 2023) – Paris’ Grand Palais was transformed into a Chanel-themed airport. A more recent airport-themed show was Hermès SS2022, held at an airport in Paris. For the finale, models lined up while an aeroplane landed behind them.

20th September: National School Backpack Awareness Day
The third Wednesday in September is National School Backpack Awareness Day, created by the American Occupational Therapy Association to raise awareness about the dangers associated with carrying overly heavy backpacks, briefcases, and handbags.
Oops – guilty. If my bag is big enough to hold it, I will add it, and I have to admit I was delighted by the oversized bags trend because I always overpack, no matter where I’m going!
