If, like me, you signed up for updates from phoebephilo.com you’ll have received an email today letting you know that the much-awaited brand is now live. Phoebe Philo is most well-known for her work as creative director of French luxury brand Celine from 2008 to 2017 (stylised Céline back then). Pieces from her time as creative director are still highly sought after, and news of her eponymous label, first announced in 2021, and with LVMH as a minority shareholder, has been followed very closely.
The announcement email featured a teaser image with a bold red logo and the news “phoebephilo.com is now open”.
Philo had first explored the idea of launching her own line in 2006 after leaving Chloé – she began worked there from 1997, first as Stella McCartney’s design assistant, then as creative director from 2001.
