The theme for the MITSURU OKAZAKI Spring 2025 collection shown at Tokyo Fashion Week was “Madness”, inspired by the expressions on athletes’ faces which designer Okazaki described as “crazy and beautiful” – it certainly doesn’t take much imagination (or pareidolia) to see facial expressions in the negative space in Looks 6, 13 and 14. Sporty touches include poppers, bermuda shorts, and crew socks, the latter sometimes exposed through vertical cutouts in trousers. Balloons carried by the first and last model recall the Olympics’ Parade of Nations where each country walks out with their flag.
