IAMISIGO Spring 2026, Dual Mandate, unravels the idea of fashion as mere adornment. Instead, it becomes a tool – an ancestral technology – for aligning body, spirit, and memory. Drawing from a deep well of traditional African craft, designer Bubu Ogisi – winner of the Zalando Visionary Award 2025 – transforms natural and industrial materials – cotton, jute, sisal, glass, metal – into sculptural garments that oscillate between the ceremonial and the surreal.
Rooted in a quiet resistance, Dual Mandate reclaims a colonial term and reimagines it as a metaphysical proposition: to protect and to perceive. The body is no longer dressed just for the physical world, but for the frequencies just beyond it. Forms expand and contract like breath, bearing the weight of both spirit and emotion. Towering headpieces, chainmail sheaths, and raffia-woven shapes evoke not spectacle, but signal – a tuning of the self.
The garments thrum with duality: soft but armored, playful yet solemn, earthly yet cosmic. IAMISIGO’s commitment to African craft as core technology – not surface embellishment – offers a deeper logic of dressing. In this collection, process is prophecy, and every thread is charged.
To wear Dual Mandate is to remember, to perceive. To stand quietly, powerfully, between worlds.
