A number of inspirations come together in the formation of the Florian Wowretzko Spring 2025 Menswear collection: water scarcity, climate change and the increasingly common news of climate disasters, an exhibition of photographs by Damion Berger, and the works of Brazilian composer Heitor Villa Lobos. Florian Wowretzko brought these themes of destruction together through the use of materials made to weather the storm, including coated denim and translucent crinoline, the latter chosen over organza for its durability and sturdiness.
The collection showcases a striking contrast in shoulder designs: some are tailored softly, draping delicately down the arms, while others are stiff, extending beyond the body with a warrior-like appearance. Soft jersey fabrics envelop the figure, gathering at the sides or shoulders, creating a sense of movement and lightness.
“There are now two possibilities to create a man who either appears tough and heroic… or a vulnerable angelic figure,” writes Florian Wowretzko in the show notes. This collection masterfully balances these contrasts, presenting both possibilities while achieving a cohesive and captivating aesthetic.
