Florentina Leitner showed her Spring 2025 collection at Paris Fashion Week and decided to take a nostalgic trip to the world of 1982 animated movie The Last Unicorn. The movie, based on a novel by Peter S. Beagle, tells the story of the unicorn’s journey of discovery and transformation – in fact Leitner collaborated closely with Peter S. Beagle’s team for this collection.
The resulting collection has an ethereal yet childlike air, with bonnets, bows, pastels, and cartoon prints. Three dimensional unicorns and flowers adorn clothing; a hoodie comes topped with a single horn.
The looks begin with an innocent tone – white, silver and pastels – until towards the end of the collection they have morphed into blood reds and blacks with a more serious feel, echoing the story told in The Last Unicorn. Through this storytelling, Florentina Leitner has provided something not just for those looking to escape into nostalgia and childhood, but also for those looking to explore their darker side.
