Carven Spring 2026 sees the debut of Design Director Mark Thomas at the French fashion house following the departure of Louise Trotter for Bottega Veneta. Thomas uses the colour white of an orchid – Madame Carven’s favourite flower – juxtaposing that with opposing blacks and greys, along with light ecrus for balance and contrast. The Esperanto waistline contour, an invention of the House, is reimagined in sportswear, while loose-fit tops reveal the body below only subtly, result in a gentle sensuality.
A strong debut – I like the minimal use of pink, along with the chalky tones used throughout. I kept looking at the necklines – pulled to one side, gathered, layered, chin guards, straight across, backward – while also looking at the finish of the fabric itself: the collection uses lace, cotton voile, jacquards, silk and moiré. See the collection below.
