The weather has finally made the switch from hot to cold so it’s time to get wrapped up in warmth and layers. Probably the only thing I like about winter is the opportunity to wear certain clothes and shoes that I can’t wear in the summer. I put together this outfit wearing (old) leggings and a (new) ring by Alexander McQueen, oversized Ottolinger boots, and a homemade cardigan. I had a cream-coloured sweater under the cardigan but I didn’t get a photo of that – sorry!

I knitted the cardigan over a few weeks while travelling to and from work on the London Underground, I was actually trying to recreate the shape of a cardigan I already had, but trying to make the sleeves bigger and more of a batwing shape – I always seem to knit sleeves in a batwing shape as I just really like the way they look.
Since I wasn’t working from a pattern but just going off trying to recreate the shapes of that original cardigan it didn’t end up all too close to what I was aiming for, but I still really liked what I ended up with, and it was a good project to use up some wool that I didn’t really know what to do with. I may try again in the future with a different stitch.

The ring I wore is from the AW2023 collection by Alexander McQueen which featured lots of statement jewellery based on orchids – there were rings, earrings and necklaces. I really like statement rings and I’ve been after something really big for a while, so I decided to invest in this one.
My leggings are from the AW2010 menswear collection by Alexander McQueen featuring a skull and bones print that I imagine is based off the design of ossuaries.
My shoes are by Ottolinger, and are from their AW2022 collection.
