For her AVAVAV Fall 2025 collection at Milan Fashion Week, Creative Director Beate Karlsson turned the runway into a burial ground – quite literally. In a hauntingly theatrical presentation titled The Hole, models clawed their way out of a grave-like opening beneath the runway floor. Grass, eerie smoke, and raw emotion set the tone for AVAVAV Fall 2025 in what was a personal and provocative collection which saw Skonare Karlsson present a deeply moving meditation on death anxiety, surrender, and the complex dance between fragility and strength.
The collection tread a line between horror and high fashion, as spectral silhouettes staggered across the runway in skeletal furs, bouclé blazers, draped veils, and blood-streaked tailoring. Pleated details, anatomical distortions, delicateness juxtaposed with armor-like silhouettes all signaled a brutal honesty about the human form — warped, powerful, decaying, and beautiful.
With theatrical flair and emotional resonance, AVAVAV blurred the line between performance art and fashion statement. Gothic grandeur met streetwear rebellion; exaggerated femininity met post-apocalyptic edge.

AVAVAV Fall 2025 Details
While the runway theatrics at Avavav Fall 2025 pulled us into the underworld this Milan Fashion Week, it’s the details – the shoes, the bags, the unexpected glimmers of embellishment – that truly reveal the depth of Creative Director Beate Skonare Karlsson’s vision for the season.
AVAVAV’s second collaboration with adidas Originals took center stage with two radical new sneaker designs. One, the Moonrubber Megaride, evoked a surreal, bubble-like sole reminiscent of fictional moon goo; the other, a reimagined Superstar, featuring a sculpted sole and toecap following the anatomy of human feet in a consciously awkward silhouette.
Accessories played with contrasts: shimmering jewelry by Swedish brand Glitter, and bows on almost everything blurred the line between costume and couture. Protective sportswear details – broad shoulders, padded gloves, and distorted shapes – brought an unsettling tension to the otherwise delicate fabrics of satin, wool, and georgette.
Close-up, we see the eerie beauty: veils whisper-thin yet loaded with symbolism, ribcage cut-outs stitched into luxe layers, and textures that speak of decay as much as design.
