Hanako Maeda’s ADEAM Fall 2025 collection is a meditation on power dressing – one that acknowledges its storied past while confidently reshaping its future. Taking cues from Coco Chanel’s tweed sets, Yves Saint Laurent’s Le Smoking, and the boardroom-dominating silhouettes of the 1980s, Maeda deconstructs and refines the idea of corporate armor with a distinctly modern hand.
The collection plays with expectation: a tuxedo dress, precise and structured, comes softened with frilled necklines; tailored trousers are punctuated by leather gaiters; corset belts with harnesses cinch dresses and skirts with authority. Double lapels add an architectural edge to suiting, while pussy bows – usually prim – drape from the neck in semi-stiff fabric, giving a nod to the poet shirt. There is the combination of deep navy and moss green, along with the use of a power dressing classic: houndstooth.
Eveningwear, too, borrows from the boardroom. A maxi skirt suit – ruffled, voluminous, but still precise – transforms traditional tailoring into something with after-dark allure. It’s a reminder that power dressing today no longer adheres to rigid spaces or occasions.
The genderless ICHI line continues this dialogue through the lens of Tokyo street style and vintage Americana. Here, officewear meets ease: tailored shorts are paired with relaxed knits, crisp trousers sit under slouchy tees layered over shirts. Visible stitching and oversized patch pockets nod to workwear, while a standout reversible jacket toggles between puffer practicality and polished outerwear.
In rethinking power dressing, Maeda suggests that strength is not about imitation but reinvention. The women of today – CEOs, creatives, multitaskers – move fluidly between roles, and their wardrobes must do the same. ADEAM Fall 2025 presents a vision of confidence that is as nuanced as the women who wear it.
