Levi Palmer and Matthew Hardingโs palmer//harding brand has always had one unwavering ambition: to elevate the humble shirt. For Pre-Fall 2025, this means elongating the shirt into A-line dresses, adding pleats and gathers at the waist then draping the fabric cape-like over the back, or adding side seams that unbutton to reveal endless possibilities for layering and styling.
But thereโs a deeper theme to the palmer//harding Pre-Fall 2025 collection – a reflection of the worldโs current chaos. In this moment of relentless noise, Palmer and Harding seem to ask: What if the answer to our stress lies in the simplicity of love and intimacy, in the quietude beneath the sheets? This notion is woven throughout the collection: fabrics that resemble bedsheets, the calming embrace of relaxed silhouettes, and folds and drapes that suggest sanctuary.
The material choices also reflect the theme. Striped cotton poplin feels like luxury bedding, while the palette – deep oxblood, rust, and brick red – warms the soul. Denim, in pure indigo, offers a grounding contrast, while ivory and bone balance out the earthy tones, and black and white provide the necessary sharpness, punctuating the warmth with graphic precision.
Itโs a collection rooted in versatility, offering both timeless staples and statement pieces like the striped shirt dresses and the bottoms with buttoned panels. For all of its comforting references, there is an undeniable sharpness, a reminder that even within the cocoon of softness, there is space for boldness.
