Here’s the third set of unofficial holidays for September, including the very misleading International Dot Day on the 15th, which isn’t about polka dot at all!
The featured image shows (l-r): Loewe SS2023, JW Anderson Pre-Fall 2023, Shinyakozuka SS2024, DSquared2 AW2023, and Libertine SS2024. All images are from Vogue Runway.
11th September: National Make Your Bed Day
National Make Your Bed Day is about raising awareness of the benefits of a well-made bed and its role in helping get a good night’s sleep.
12th September: National Video Games Day
On September 12th, it’s time to celebrate video games with National Video Games Day. It made me thing of the pixel capsule collection at Loewe recently (and my very early extremely pixellated video gaming days), and also these Pac-Man ghosts at DSquared2.
I haven’t played video games in years, though I used to be play for hours (Final Fantasy VII and VIII were the last ones I played obsessively), but I still love pixel art and am drawn to it for its nostalgia-factor.
13th September: National Kids Take Over The Kitchen Day
On September 13th you’re supposed to let your kitchen be taken over by kids – at your own risk I suppose.
14th September: National Colouring Day
Pick up a colouring book on September 14th and maybe even get your doodles printed on fabric like Shinyakozuka SS2024 and Simon Miller Pre-Fall 2023.
15th September: International Dot Day
International Dot Day isn’t about polka dot like I first thought, but it’s about encouraging people to release their creative potential.
