Davide Renne, the recently appointed Creative Director of Moschino, has died, according to a press release issued by Moschino’s parent company Aeffe S.p.A. on 10th November. No cause of death was given.
Born in Tuscany in 1977, Renne was 46 years old and had only been in his role at Moschino for a few days, having officially assumed the role of Creative Director on 1st November. His debut collection was to be AW24/25, which was to be shown during Milan Fashion Week in February 2024.
Renne had worked at Gucci for two decades, designing women’s collections, eventually becoming Head Designer of Womenswear. At Moschino, he was to be responsible for womenswear, menswear and accessories, as announced in a press release on 16th October 2023.
He succeeded Jeremy Scott as Creative Director of the brand – Scott had held the position since 2013 with his outlandish designs well received by consumers and making Moschino responsible for almost three quarters of sales of the Aeffe group, which also holds brands Alberta Ferreti, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, and Pollini. Scott’s reason for parting ways with Moschino is still unclear.
Until more details come to light it is difficult to know what exactly happened to Davide Renne, and also what will now be the way forward for Moschino, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. RIP Davide.
