Set in the cavernous brutalism of TAP1, the Han Kjøbenhavn Fall 2025 show – titled Concrete Born – was a deeply personal reflection by creative director Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsen. Drawing from his upbringing in Denmark’s suburban sprawl, the collection paid homage to the grit and poetry of urban existence and the communities forged within it. Models walked through fog and shadows in sculptural silhouettes, some wearing hearing aids, furthering the brand’s commitment to championing individuality and authenticity.
Denim, faux fur, and the unlikely inclusion of retro football kits filtered through Davidsen’s lens of street romanticism. At times, the message felt poignant. But equally, the collection occasionally veered into repetition. The exaggerated shoulder and neckline proportions – now a brand hallmark – felt more like a signature on auto-repeat than a reinvention. There were glimmers of evolution in the interplay between athletic references and the brand’s architectural tailoring, but those moments were brief.
At its best, Han Kjøbenhavn expresses a kind of dystopian beauty; at its weakest, it struggles to move beyond its own aesthetic loop. Concrete Born was evocative and clearly meaningful to its creator, but one is left wondering when the brand will take the kind of risk that signals true growth rather than well-executed familiarity.
