Cecilie Bahnsen Spring 2026 proves that the designer doesn’t so much design clothes as she engineers daydreams – and for her ten-year anniversary at Copenhagen Fashion Week, the daydream came with sneakers. Set against the weathered concrete of Refshaleøen, Hana-bi (the Japanese word for fireworks) unfolded in a haze of soft focus and hard edges: ethereal froth meeting ASICS practicality, like a fairy who refuses to give up her gym membership.
White dominated the opening – crisp, cloud-like, and unapologetically romantic – before the collection shimmered into silver, a Bahnsen signature that here felt like a quiet nod to evolution. Layers of broderie anglaise, quilted taffeta, and organza bloomed into her signature sculptural silhouettes, only to be twisted, flipped, or reassembled entirely. A dress might turn back-to-front, a hem might hike up mid-twirl, and sequined briefs were perfectly content to peek from beneath airy skirts.
It was part retrospective, part remix: most of the looks were one-offs and will be exhibited in Cecilie Bahnsen’s newly opened Copenhagen boutique. There’s an intimacy in Bahnsen’s work that’s less about nostalgia than about shared history. Ten years on, she’s still telling the same story – one of delicacy, disruption, and everyday magic – but the punctuation has changed. Now, it ends not with an exclamation mark, but a knowing ellipsis.
