High up the chin, high up the hips: the best way to describe the jackets that Catherine Holstein presents for KHAITE Resort 2027. Made of faux fur or shiny black leather, some feature chin straps, others fur lapels or lining. They are at the same time both soft and structured: this concept of duality flows throughout the entire collection.
Lace adorns skirts that delicately balance out the armour-like look of fitted jackets; heavy fur sprouts up around the neck on lightweight dresses, falling over the shoulders like a capelet. A balloon maxi skirt (shorts?) contrasts with a slim fit hoodie worn open: the bottoms look ready for a night out, the hoodie ready for a night in on the sofa. Voluminous outfits are paired with teeny tiny handbags.
Holstein’s inspiration is the late 90s and early 2000s, but there’s definitely something 1980s about the white-on-black star print, and that red-on-black heart print which could just as well be a distorted leopard print. That final look’s waistcoat is definitely Y2K though!
It’s a soothing, natural palette with some goth thrown in the mix: ivory, tan, khaki, grey, then deep red velvet and glossy, latex-look leather. Mermaid skirts develop the Gothic feel even further.
Handbags are a key focus for KHAITE Resort 2027: the Blake family is being expanded; this includes the arrival of the Soft Blake.
