Paul Smith Fall 2026 Menswear was presented as an intimate, salon-style show in Milan, offering a celebration of the brand’s signature tailoring and the joy of collecting. Built around the idea of “magpie dressing” and finding beauty in everyday items, the collection draws from an eclectic mix of references: Paul’s personal archive, British literary culture, and the bohemian world of Jean Cocteau. The result feels like a love letter to a creative process built on gathering stories and treasures over decades.
The collection also marks a quietly significant moment for the brand: it’s the first developed in close collaboration with Sam Cotton, the recently appointed Head of Men’s Design, whom Paul has mentored for years. Together, the pair revisited the Nottingham-based archive which is home to nearly 5,000 garments spanning 55 years; some of the label’s most recognizable tailoring silhouettes from the late 1980s and early 1990s were reimagined for Paul Smith Fall 2026 Menswear in updates for the contemporary man.
Deconstructed details, inside-out finishes, and characterful use of Harris Tweed and Donegal fabrics carry the unmistakable British wit the brand is known for. Colour, as always, plays a starring role, though here it’s handled with restraint: deep autumnal shades form the canvas, archival prints, polka dots, and hand-drawn pears. Photographs from Paul’s father’s archive appear on shirting, and linings nod to his love of Japanese colour theory. Cocteau’s influence surfaces in layered cuffs, sheer fabrics, and button covers, while distressed leather bags, belts, and charms lend the accessories a lived-in quality that ties the whole collection together.
