For his Erdem Resort 2026 collection, Creative Director Erdem Moralioglu turns his gaze to the fearless life and intricate work of Maria Sibylla Merian, the 17th century entomologist and illustrator whose scientific pursuits flew in the face of the era’s strict religious expectations. The result is a collection that balances Calvinist severity with romantic flourish, fusing botanical prints and insect motifs with prim lace collars, sculptural silhouettes, and embroidered flora that feel part science, part sorcery. There’s a quiet drama to it all – as if Merian herself has stepped from the pages of her own books into a world of velvet, taffeta, and transformation.
