So I’ve seen a lot of posts and articles about the schedule for New York Fashion Week and if you strip away the polite reporting, the consensus is this: there are no cool and creative designers like in London, everybody goes to Paris or Milan once they’re established, and all the excitement is centred round Peter Do for Helmut Lang.
I totally disagree on the lack of enthusiasm and the feeling of a crisis around NYFW so I’ll be posting about 10 brands that I’m excited for. This is the first set of five, you can read about the second set here.

The brand shares its name and ethos with the Manhattan nightclub[4] that ran from 1983 to 1987 in Hudson Street, seeing celebrities such as Grace Jones and Andy Warhol visit for its nights that fused art and performance.[5]
11.09.2023 09:00 – Rentrayage
Founded by Erin Beatty in 2019, Rentrayage is based on the concept of reimagining what has already existed. The brand’s pieces are all one-of-a-kind or limited edition, and handcrafted in New York and Brooklyn. Old clothes, vintage fabrics and deadstock items are reworked into new items for maximum sustainability.[6]
